Every underperforming organization I have walked into had talented people. That was never the problem. The problem was that twenty talented people were running twenty different plays and nobody had written any of them down. Coaching taught me that execution is not a personality trait. It is a system. Install the play. Rep the play. Grade the film. The team that runs an average plan consistently beats the team that improvises a brilliant one. So I do not walk in and motivate people. I install operating systems, then coach them.
